Beautiful Thing
02:53
|
|||
Oh sweet honey, would you look at me now?
I got waylaid and lost but I figured it out.
I left a part of myself behind,
You had to be cruel so I could define,
How a cloud feels, dancing in the rain …
Ain’t no doubt about it, it’s a beautiful thing.
Oh my love, when you break it all down,
You got the hardest road so you own that ground.
There’s a place that you like to find,
somewhere just beyond inside,
The memory of love’s sweet refrain …
Ain’t no doubt about it, it’s a beautiful thing.
Sometimes we struggle, living in this dream.
And then we remember, it’s a beautiful thing.
Oh sweet honey, would you look at me now?
I got waylaid and lost, but I figured it out.

Calgary Skyline
03:22
|
|||
Calgary skyline, I'm gonna get it right this time.
with hands in her pockets, so hot on my fingers,
it figures I dropped it.
Alberta sunrise, deep in the suburbs of my mind.
Her head on my shoulder, I gathered her in,
but I couldn't hold her.
Dark clouds form where warm winds blow.
Wait a little while and see where this goes.
It's been said and I've been told.
That rivers run through banks of gold.
Some are bought and some are sold.
Sunalta moonrise, I'm heading west on the 7:05.
With the sky full of thunder, and drops on the windows,
I ride and I wonder.
Golden twilight, finding my feet I step outside,
in to the cold air, where I recall it all,
and I find that I still care.
Dark clouds form where warm winds blow.
Wait a little while and see where this goes.
It's been said and I've been told.
That rivers run through banks of gold.
Some are bought and some are sold.

Pockets Empty
03:57
|
|||
Oh I was a fool I gave it all away I bet all of my money
On the wrong horse in the race
After the lies and cheatin, after the foolish games
I stand with my pockets empty, I hang my head today
Why couldn’t I see it, he was clearly not my kind
But I wanted to believe it
And now I’m a woman with an empty house
no honey and a big black eye
He’d toss me a casual smile
On those days he was being nice
But when the dark clouds blew over
You’d see the change in his eyes
Man, I knew I was hungry
And I gorged on the scraps of his time
But I called the cops and they took him away
‘Cuz this time he crossed the line
Why couldn't I see it
I was blind to all the signs
I didn't want to believe it
So now I’m the woman with the empty house
no honey and a big black eye
Before I know he was coming
He bore down on me in his pain
And I stand with the print of his ring
On the left side of my face
My body aches all over
My head is a ringing bell
And I lie with my bed empty
Alone is its own kind of hell
Nobody could see it
He was such a perfect guy nobody would believe it
But now I’m that woman with an empty house
no honey and a big black eye

Behind the Sun
05:49
|
|||
I channel the rage, I soak in the loss.
I nail both my hands to this burning cross.
I tear at the throat, I peel back the skin.
I demolish the house, where memory lives.
I am the darkness inside the flame,
I am the stone that sharpens the blade.
I am the shadows behind the sun,
I am the pain inside of love.
I strike at the night, I shout at the dawn.
I sleep in the wreckage, it’s where I belong.
I grind up the bones that litter the sea.
I swallow the river that runs through your dreams.
I promise the world, I give you the void.
I sing with conviction, to silence your voice.
I start at the end, I end at before.
I am the cause of god and of war.

Just Before the Dawn
04:23
|
|||
When the weight of the world is on my shoulders
In the dark just before the dawn
Alone in our bed, with my lonely dreams
I am tossed like a ship upon storm
Oh I will wait, I will wait
I will wait for his song
For every note in the soft melody
Brings me close to the nest of his arms
Every sound on the wind tunes the hair on my skin
Holds me rapt, and waiting
For the rasp in his voice and the notes that he sings
Mend the places in me, that were broken
Oh I will wait, I will wait
I will wait for his song
For every note in the soft melody
Brings me close to the nest of his arms
In that morning hour just west of the sun
The old owl cries, her nightly mourn
I will wait in my bed for my only love
With infinite expectation of the dawn *

Horse and Saddle
03:00
|
|||
How many trails must I travel?
Just to get back to you.
Bring me my horse and saddle,
I think a change is due.
Tonight I’ll ride across the mountain,
With a shining band of gold.
And if the rain starts pounding,
Please don’t leave me out in the cold.
I’ve got a message that I must get through,
It’s direct from me to you.
I could never get enough,
you’re the one I love
How many trails must I travel?
Oh I really wish I knew.
Bring me my horse and saddle,
I think a change is due.

This Time
03:43
|
|||
Wandering the streets of my life
Tripping over my own damned feet
Lost in thoughts so dark and deep
While you wait for me
To see the light
You wait for me through my darkest night
You wait for me
You wait for me
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right
Part of me had to die along the way
Preconceptions overturn
Some bridges need to burn
While you wait for me
I don’t know why
You’re safe for me
Like a lullaby
You wait for me
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right
You didn’t want me to be someone else
So I became a better version of myself
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right
And this time I’ll get it right
This time I'll get it right

Oklahoma or Arkansas
03:35
|
|||
I’m gonna go, down to New Orleans.
I’ll buy some diamonds, and a big machine.
Across Mississippi, to the Georgia line,
up in them hills, where a man can hide.
Ain’t never going back to Wichita …
Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
Feet on the pegs, hair in the wind.
Notify the county, and my next of kin.
They can search my name, but that won’t help.
You’ll never find me, I’ll be someone else.
Ain’t never going back to Wichita …
Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
Wait for my letter, when the spring arrives.
Buy a Greyhound ticket, and a dress that’s white.
I’ll be standing in my Sunday suit,
a Panama hat, and my daddy’s boots.
Ain’t never going back to Wichita …
Oklahoma, or Arkansas.
Oklahoma, or Arkansas.

Save Me Tonight
03:03
|
|||
I'm growing tired babe, of rolling around.
There's always another show, and another town.
I need to get back to you, I've got to make a change.
Out here in the desert, everything looks like rain ...
The way I'm living, just ain't right,
and I need you to save me tonight.
I'm loving loneliness, most of the time.
Out of the darkness baby, comes a little light.
Take me to the mountain top, lead me by the hand.
Out here on the ocean, everything looks like land ...
The way I'm living, just ain't right,
and I need you to save me tonight.
The way I'm living, just ain't right,
and I need you to save me tonight.
The way I'm living, just ain't right,
and I need you to save me tonight.
The way I'm living, just ain't right,
and I need you to save me tonight.
Yes I need you to save me tonight.

Song From a Tree
03:22
|
|||
All of us all intent
To relive time already spent
Days disappear stretch the hours
Lay like dawn on the wildflowers
What was once beyond my reach
Reappears light retreats
Close down the circus stick to the wings
Meet an old friend he was waiting
There is no that, there is no there
There’s only this, only here
There is no you, there is no me
There’s only us, only we
What you feel is also mine
Night descends walls subside
No right or wrong I see you
The field beyond comes into view
There is no that, there is no there
There’s only this, only here
There is no you, there is no me
There’s only us, only we

That Is for Sure
02:32
|
|||
I’ve got it all, now that you’re here.
Hold me close, before we disappear.
However long, we have on this earth.
You and me baby, that is for sure.
Something old, Something new
You for me, me for you
Wherever we are, whoever we were
You and me baby that is for sure
I’ve got it all, now that you’re here.
Hold me close, before we disappear.
However long, we have on this earth.
You and me baby, that is for sure.

When You're Gone
02:49
|
|||
When you’re gone
I’ll have the sweetest memories
I’ll see you in my dreams
Every night
When you’re gone
I’ll pass you on the street
And my heart will skip a beat
Every time
When you’re gone
I’ll have no treasure to defend
My world won’t make sense
When you’re gone
When you’re gone
When you’re gone
I’ll collapse upon my knees
The tears will fall like leaves
On the snow
When you’re gone
I’ll be talking with myself
Or the pictures on the shelf
All alone
When you’re gone
I’ll have no one to share the highs
And no secrets to confide
When you’re gone
When you’re gone
When you’re gone
I’ll be marking the time
Until I lie down by your side
Where I belong
When I’m gone
